Pricing
Contact us to ask — we can discuss payment options during your estimate.
Yes. We offer a lowest-price guarantee. If you get a lower written quote for the same scope of work and quality of materials, we’ll beat it.
Frameless shower door installations by Frameless Shower Systems run between $1,000 and $3,000 for the glass, hardware and installation in the DC, Maryland, and Virginia area. Final pricing depends on:
- Door size and configuration — a single hinged door costs less than a full enclosure with a fixed side panel
- Glass thickness — 1/2″ glass costs more than 3/8″
- Hardware finish — chrome and brushed nickel are standard; matte black and brushed gold are available at a modest upcharge
- Style — neo-angle and custom configurations involve more glass and hardware than a standard single door
We give you an exact price after a free in-home measurement — no guessing, no per-square-foot estimates over the phone that change when the installer shows up. We also stand by our lowest-price guarantee: if you get a lower written quote from a licensed competitor for the same scope of work, we’ll match it.

The Glass
Yes, but some cleaners work significantly better than others on shower glass, and a few common products can actually damage your hardware over time.
What works well:
- A squeegee after every shower (the single most effective thing you can do)
- White vinegar diluted with water for light hard water buildup
- Rain-X Original or similar hydrophobic glass treatments applied every few months — water beads off and the glass stays cleaner longer
- Bar Keeper’s Friend (powder form) for stubborn hard water deposits — apply with a damp cloth, rinse thoroughly
What to avoid:
- Bleach-based cleaners near metal hardware — they’ll corrode the finish over time
- Abrasive scrub pads — they can micro-scratch the glass surface
- Ammonia-based cleaners (including some Windex formulas) used too frequently — fine occasionally but can damage certain hardware finishes with repeated use
For the hardware itself, a damp microfiber cloth and mild dish soap is all you need. Dry the hardware after cleaning to prevent water spots.
Yes. All of our glass meets SGCC (Safety Glazing Certification Council) certification standards. By law, every piece of tempered glass must bear a permanent certification mark — you can look for the SGCC logo on the glass after installation.
Clear, frosted, tinted, and low-iron (for maximum clarity with no green tint). We’ll walk you through options during your estimate.
We use 3/8″ and 1/2″ tempered safety glass for all of our frameless shower doors and enclosures — never thinner.
- 3/8″ glass is our standard for most shower doors, including sliding doors and smaller enclosures. It’s sturdy, rigid, and the most common choice for residential installs in DC, Maryland, and Virginia.
- 1/2″ glass is recommended for larger enclosures, longer panels, or configurations where extra rigidity adds a safety margin. It also has a more substantial, high-end feel when you open and close the door.
We’ll recommend the right thickness after your in-home measurement based on your door size and configuration. All of our glass is tempered safety glass, meaning it breaks into small, blunt fragments rather than sharp shards in the rare event of breakage.ommend the right thickness for your specific setup.
Yes — all of our frameless shower glass is tempered safety glass, and it’s the only type we use.
Regular untempered glass breaks into large, jagged shards that can cause serious injury. Tempered glass is heat-treated to break differently: when it fails, it shatters into small, rounded fragments with dull edges — similar to a car windshield — dramatically reducing the risk of cuts.
We are SGCC (Safety Glazing Certification Council) certified, and every piece of glass we install carries a tempered stamp (look for the small logo in the corner of your glass). If a company can’t show you that stamp, their glass may not be certified.
In practice, tempered shower glass is extremely durable. The most common cause of breakage is a sudden impact — something heavy hitting the glass directly. Routine daily use, heat, steam, and cleaning products don’t affect it.
The Hardware
Yes. We have a wide selection of handle styles and sizes. We’ll bring options when we come out.
We offer frameless shower door hardware in a full range of finishes to match your bathroom fixtures:
- Chrome — a classic, high-polish finish that works in traditional and contemporary bathrooms
- Brushed Nickel — a warmer, matte silver finish; one of the most popular choices in the DC metro area
- Matte Black — a modern, dramatic finish increasingly popular in newer Northern Virginia and Maryland homes
- Brushed Gold / Champagne Bronze — a warm-toned finish for transitional and traditional bathrooms
- Brushed Bronze — available for older or more traditional bathroom styles
We’ll typically try to match or complement your existing plumbing fixtures (faucets, towel bars, toilet hardware). If you’re not sure what finish works best, bring a photo of your bathroom to your estimate appointment and we’ll walk you through the options.ned finish for transitional and traditional bathrooms
Installation
Squeegee the glass after each use — this is the single best thing you can do to prevent water spots and soap buildup. For deeper cleaning, use a non-abrasive glass cleaner. Avoid anything with ammonia on the hardware.
We handle it ourselves. The same team that comes out to measure is the team that installs. No subcontractors, no handoffs.
depends on your wall construction. Frameless glass is heavy, and the walls anchoring it need to handle that weight. We assess this during the estimate and let you know upfront if any reinforcement is needed.
Not if it’s installed correctly. Frameless enclosures rely on precise measurements and proper sealing rather than rubber gaskets and frames. This is exactly why professional installation matters — and why we measure twice before anything is cut. Every installation we do is fully sealed and tested before we leave.
U-channels — the metal tracks some companies run along the edges of glass panels — exist to hide imprecise cuts. When a company can’t measure and cut glass to fit your exact opening, a U-channel covers the gap.
We don’t use U-channels because we don’t need them. We take custom measurements in your home, cut the glass to your exact opening (including out-of-square walls, which are common in older homes across DC, Maryland, and Virginia), and install it cleanly without framing to disguise the fit.
The result is a genuinely frameless look — glass meeting tile with nothing in between — rather than a semi-frameless look dressed up as the real thing. It also means fewer places for mold and soap scum to collect, since there’s no metal channel sitting in a wet environment day after day.our bathroom.
